The strong man of fear.

2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.  A spirit of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.  Our very own reborn spirit.  Our feast of Passover experience with the Lord.  1 Peter 1:18-19  Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:  Ephesians 4:23-24  And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.  And our reborn spirit is baptized (immersed) into the Holy Spirit when we become baptized with the Holy Spirit.  Our feast of Pentecost experience with the Lord.  Acts 1:5  For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.  Acts 2:1-4  And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.  Praise the Lord for the fruit and power of the Holy Spirit that enables us to overcome the strong men.

Manifestations, or evidence of the strong man of fear;

Fear and horror– Psalm 55:5 Fearfulness and trembling are come upon me, and horror hath overwhelmed me.

Torment– 1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

Fear of death and heart attacks– Hebrews 2:14-15 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. Psalm 55:4 My heart is sore pained within me: and the terrors of death are fallen upon me. Fear of man, public opinion– Proverbs 29:25 The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.

All types of fears and phobias– These may include worry, anxiety, timidity, stress, and fear of heights or darkness.  1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

Four types of people that are oppressed by the strong man (spirit) of fear;

Hypercritic– Being over-critical and judgmental. This condition is the manifestation of the spirit of fear known as depression. It makes one irritable so that he is rude and critical beyond reason.

Five psychological disorders that could be caused by the spirit of fear.

We are commanded to let the oppressed go free. Isaiah 58:6 Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?

FEARLESSNESS– The mark of a true disciple! The bible teaches us not to fear other gods, such as demon-gods, or strongmen.

2 Kings 17:37-38 And the statutes, and the ordinances, and the law, and the commandment, which he wrote for you, ye shall observe to do for evermore; and ye shall not fear other gods. And the covenant that I have made with you ye shall not forget; neither shall ye fear other gods.

Matthew 10:26-28 Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known. What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops. And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Fear not suffering, prison, or tribulation– Revelation 2:10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

Fearful and unbelieving– Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Fearful sent away– Judges 7:3 Now therefore go to, proclaim in the ears of the people, saying, Whosoever is fearful and afraid, let him return and depart early from mount Gilead. And there returned of the people twenty and two thousand; and there remained ten thousand.
